Wallis House Publishing
Privacy notice
Last updated: 25 September 2026
This notice explains how Wallis House Publishing uses personal information when you browse Wallis House Games, create an account, purchase or play a game, join a membership, or contact us. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected] or use our contact form.
Information we use and why
- Accounts: your name, email address, securely hashed password, verification status and sign-in sessions. We use these to provide and protect your account and deliver the service you request.
- Purchases and memberships: order references, products, prices, billing periods, payment status, provider references and earned game access. We use these to fulfil purchases, manage renewals and refunds, and keep required business records.
- Playing: saved progress, notes, choices, library selections, completion dates and approximate active playing seconds. The online timer pauses when the game is hidden, loses focus or has no interaction for two minutes. It sends duration counts, not the keys you press or pointer movements. Playing time is linked to your account; only aggregate duration estimates are displayed publicly. These let you resume games and let us understand, in aggregate, how long games take and where they can be improved. Some games store progress or sound preferences in your browser instead.
- Contact messages: the name, email, topic and message you provide, plus any optional game, device or browser details. We use these to respond, investigate problems and consider suggestions. They are sent to our support inbox; your message is not published on the site.
- Technical records: IP addresses, request and error information, timestamps and browser/session information used to operate the website, prevent abuse and diagnose faults.
- Playtesting preferences: whether an eligible member has chosen to join or leave the optional programme and individual tests, separate test progress and notes, and the feedback they send for a specific version. Feedback is visible to its author and authorised publisher staff. Joining does not subscribe you to emails.
We use information necessary to provide accounts, paid access and support on the basis of performing our contract with you or taking steps you request before a contract. Our legitimate interests cover keeping the service secure, preventing fraud, responding to general enquiries and improving games through limited operational reporting. Where records are required by tax or other law, our basis is legal obligation. If we ask for consent for an optional use, you can withdraw that consent without affecting earlier lawful use.
We do not sell personal information. The site has no advertising or affiliate tracking, and we do not use your contact-form message to add you to a marketing list.
Payments and service providers
Stripe processes payments. Card details are entered on Stripe’s payment service; our application does not store full card numbers or card security codes. We receive the payment and billing information needed to confirm your order, reconcile your membership and handle refunds or disputes. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy for its processing, international transfers and privacy choices.
Our hosting provider, Fasthosts, supports the server that runs the website. Our email services, including Zoho for our business inbox, process messages and contact details needed for delivery and replies. Authorised people working on the website may access relevant information to provide support and maintain the service. We may also disclose necessary information to professional advisers or public authorities where legally required.
Some providers operate internationally, so data may be processed outside the UK. International processing is subject to the provider’s applicable data-protection arrangements and the safeguards required by law. You can contact us for information about the providers and transfer arrangements relevant to your request.
Cookies, browser storage and retention
Essential session and security cookies support sign-in, form protection and navigation. We use browser storage where a game saves progress locally or remembers preferences such as sound. Clearing that storage can remove locally saved progress and preferences. You can control cookies and site storage in your browser, although blocking essential storage may prevent sign-in or games from working.
We retain account and game-access records while needed to provide your account and retained library. Ending a paid membership does not by itself delete that information, because earned games remain available. We keep transaction records where needed for accounting, tax requirements, refunds or disputes.
Contact correspondence is retained while dealing with the enquiry and where needed to understand a continuing issue, resolve a complaint or defend a legal claim. Technical logs and backups are kept for operational security and recovery. We assess retention by the purpose of the record, whether the issue remains active, applicable legal duties and the need to restore the service; we do not promise immediate deletion from every backup.
You can ask us to close your account or delete information. We will explain any records that must be retained and any impact on your library before completing the request. Information removed from the active service may remain in protected backups until they rotate out.
Families and young players
Accounts are intended to be owned by an adult, including when a family plays together. We do not need children’s names or dates of birth. Please avoid putting children’s personal information in game notes or messages. Contact us if you believe such information has been supplied in error.
Your choices and rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access or correct your information, request deletion or restriction, receive a portable copy, or withdraw consent for optional processing. We may need to verify your identity before releasing or changing account information.
You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Tell us which processing you object to and we will consider your request. Contact [email protected] or select “Privacy or account request” on our contact form.
You can raise a concern with us and may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. Where applicable, you may also contact the data-protection authority where you live.
Changes to this notice
We will update the date above when this notice changes and bring material changes to your attention where appropriate. Our Terms explain purchases, memberships and use of the games.
