Terms of use and purchase
Last updated: 25 September 2026
These terms cover Wallis House Games, our online games, printable editions and memberships. The game description and the offer shown when you order form part of your purchase terms. Please keep a copy for your records; you can print this page or save it as a PDF using your browser.
About us
Wallis House Publishing operates Wallis House Games at wallishousegames.com. You can contact us at [email protected] or through our contact form.
Purchases and access
The Reading Room is a free account. A paid membership is not required to buy an individually available game. Some editions are included with paid membership only; their game pages explain this before you order.
Check the edition, price and billing period before continuing to Stripe’s payment page. Prices on this website are shown in pounds sterling. The final checkout shows the currency and total you will pay. Your payment provider may apply currency-conversion charges.
A purchase is accepted when payment is confirmed and your order is marked paid. Your available online games and PDF downloads then appear in My Library. If payment succeeds but access is missing, contact us with your order reference rather than paying again.
Game pages identify whether you are buying an online game, a printable PDF or both. Online games require an internet connection and a current browser. PDFs require a PDF reader and, for paper play, access to a printer. Unless the offer says otherwise, games are supplied in English.
Memberships, releases and bonuses
Paid memberships are billed monthly or annually, as selected at checkout, and renew automatically until you stop renewal from your account. The current membership page sets out the price and benefits of each tier. Annual membership is paid upfront; any saving is shown against twelve monthly payments.
The three welcome-collection games are included when you join a paid membership. Eligible games released during your paid membership dates are added automatically. Those earned games, welcome games and unlocked bonuses remain in your library after an ordinary cancellation, expiry or return to the free tier. Ending membership stops future benefits; it does not remove separately purchased games.
Master Key earns one archive choice on joining and another on each paid monthly anniversary, including with annual billing. Unused earned choices accumulate without an expiry date and can be used after membership ends. Choose from the available archive selection; owned titles and welcome games do not use choices. Confirmed choices cannot be exchanged. Games already awarded stay in your collection. Refunded or disputed payments may suspend choices and access earned from those payments.
Our release aim is one game a month across the catalogue. This is not a promise of a new game in every category each month. Detective Wallis online mysteries are Master Key exclusives. Occasional extras and optional playtesting may also be offered to Master Key members. Physical rewards are included only where their qualification and delivery terms are expressly stated in the offer.
For an eligible mid-period upgrade, review the charge and credit for unused time before confirming. Stopping automatic renewal normally leaves your membership active until the end of its paid period. A failed payment does not start a new paid period. Contact us if you believe a payment or access decision is wrong.
Cancellation, refunds and problems
Stopping renewal and requesting a refund are different actions. To cancel an order, ask for a refund, or report faulty or misdescribed content, use our contact form or email us. Tell us your name, the email used for the order, the order reference if available, and what you would like us to resolve. You do not have to use any particular wording or form.
Consumers may have statutory cancellation rights, including a 14-day cancellation period for qualifying distance contracts. Any loss of a cancellation right for immediately supplied digital content requires the agreement and acknowledgement required by law. We do not treat merely visiting the site, playing a game or downloading a file as a blanket waiver of your statutory rights.
If content is faulty, unavailable or not as described, contact us so we can investigate and provide the remedy required by applicable consumer law. Nothing in these terms removes your rights to a repair, replacement, price reduction or refund where the law provides them. Refunded purchases may have their corresponding access withdrawn; unrelated purchases are not affected.
You can send a cancellation notice in this form: “I wish to cancel my order for [game or membership], ordered on [date]. My name is [name], my account email is [email], and my order reference is [reference, if known].” Send it through Contact or by email.
Using our games and your account
Accounts and purchases should be managed by an adult. One adult-owned account may be used to play together as a family. Please supervise younger players and follow the audience guidance on each game. We do not ask for children’s names or dates of birth.
Your purchase gives you permission to play the online edition and print purchased PDFs for personal, non-commercial play with your household or invited group. It does not transfer copyright. Do not resell, publicly upload or distribute the files, share account credentials publicly, or use the material commercially without our permission.
Keep your sign-in details private. Do not interfere with the service, attempt to access another person’s account, or use our forms for abusive or unlawful messages. We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to address abuse, fraud or a security incident. You can contact us to question a restriction.
Progress is saved as explained in each game. Most online investigations save to your account; The Clockwork Menagerie uses storage in your browser on that device. Downloaded PDFs can be retained for personal play. Online access depends on the continued operation of the service; we do not promise uninterrupted availability. We will handle material service problems and changes in accordance with your purchase terms and consumer rights.
Suggestions and changes
We welcome suggestions and bug reports. Sending feedback does not transfer ownership of your original creative work to us, and does not commit us to developing it or paying for it. Please do not send material that you are not entitled to share.
We may update these terms for future use and purchases. The date above identifies the current version. Changes do not retrospectively remove rights attached to existing purchases. Material changes to ongoing paid benefits or prices will be communicated before they take effect where required.
Questions and complaints
Contact [email protected] or use our contact form. We will consider the issue and explain the next steps. Any mandatory consumer protections applying where you live remain available to you.
Our Privacy notice explains how we use personal information.
